ATK left out of NASA contract awards

ATK Space Systems was bypassed by NASA in its bid to win part of nearly $1.5 billion awarded Friday to develop a new commercial space capsule to launch American astronauts into space.
The decision leaves the future of jobs at ATK in Utah in doubt.
ATK has already laid off more than 2,000 employees as the Space Shuttle program has wound down. It hoped to avoid further layoffs by building more motors for the Liberty system.
